Broken Leg

Postby Simon iLT on Wed Jul 07, 2010 11:35 am

Hey guys,

Just thought I would write to say I'm out of action for a while after breaking my leg on Monday night (playing for FC Locomotiv). Was a harsh challenge on me but a 50/50 one. I just came off a lot worse.

Belgium gig is still going to happen next week as we are drafting in cover. More news on this soon.

Hope to be back playing the drums very soon and retiring from the football field. :-) x

see i knew that football is a pointless game that is more trouble than it is worth- hope you are soon on the mend.. though I have to say if Def Leppard's drummer could manage with only one arm, surely you could play from your wheelchair in Belgium

I hope that FC Locomotiv were at least given a free kick... Get well soon, Simon!

Suddenly very worried about my game later on, though it does back up my policy of putting not getting injured above throwing myself into every tackle even if some of my team mates don't agree.

No free kick. To be fair the guy played the ball before following through into Simon's shin. He was wearing shin pads so its a fair old wack. I personally don't think there was intent (others in the team may disagree) but both players were very commited to the challenge. There were some other terrible challenges going in before the leg break incident however.

It was 2-2 at the time. We lost the desire to play football and eventually lost 3-2. It was against top of the table opposition.

bloody hell , you guys are tough up north.

in the southern league i play in , its all powder puff challenges and robben type playacting.

proper 70's nostalgia stuff remains in those leeds leagues.

i presume the culprit was the ghost of billy bremner ?

Hey Helen! The leg is still full casted up and I'm back in hospital next week. Safe to say I'm resting hard as I may be needed to play some shows at some point in the not too distant future. ;-)
